(mate) of the vessel's master (Captain) (Current Work Sphere) ------- My Responsibilities and Duties: * The position of a 3rd mate includes the diversity of responsibilities and duties, but the main duty of a 3rd mate is to prepare the bridge for the upcoming voyages which includes the preparation of all bridge navigational and other electronic devices. * To make sure that the mooring conditions at the jetty side are safe and ready for the voyage. * Keeping Sharp Lookout and Watch when on route to a certain destination. * Navigation of the vessel by using GPS, Radar and Other Relevant Electronic Devices. * The Monthly check of all live saving appliances and equipment on board the vessel. * HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) activities within the vessel and around the jetty side when the vessel is berthed. * Safety rounds and visual inspection of all compartments and spaces onboard * Daily Weather forecast monitoring. * Documentation activities such as material and food requests for the vessel and personnel. * Organization and conduction of the Monthly Fire, MEDEVAC, ABANDONSHIP and MANOVERBOARD drills. * The position of a 3rd mate also included the service of the passengers living on board. As the vessel that I worked on was the passenger vessel (not a touristic liner) for workers of different occupations from different companies I was also involved in giving technical service for the passengers. * The conduction of business and regular meetings aimed to accomplish diversity of port, ship and sea operations. * Translation of meetings and documentation activities from English-Russian-English. * Translation of business letters, contracts and conversations between the partners of port and sea industry. * Translation of a technical, ship construction (ship's parts, machinery space, engine system) and marine-engineering terminology from English-Russian-English * The Consecutive Translation of a short-term and long-term project presentations at the meetings from English into Russian and vice versa.
